This article is about the biography of Nigerian Musician Davido.
Davido’s full name is David Adeleke
Davido was born into the family of Chief Deji Adeleke and Dr Veronica Adedeji. His father is a businessman. His mother, Dr Veronica, was a lecturer at Babcock University before she passed on.
Davido attended the British International School in Lagos. After his secondary education.
He enrolled at Oakwood University where he did not complete his programme.
Davido’s career began when he was at Oakwood University. He went to London, where he developed his vocals and bought some musical instruments which he used in doing some recordings.
In Oakwood, he backed up for Sina Rambo, an up-and-coming rapper in the United States at the time. Davido was in a group called KB International in America before returning to Nigeria in March 2011.
Omo Baba Olowo, as he is usually called, continued his education at Babcock University, and in July 2015, got a first-class degree in Music.
When he returned to Nigeria, Davido released his first album, Omo Baba Olowo. This album, though produced by several production companies, suffered some backlash from music critics
The album was also nominated for the Best Album of the Year awards at the 2013 Nigeria Entertainment Awards. On May 7th 2011, he produced the single, “Back When”, in which he featured Naeto C.
In October 2011, one of his hit songs, Dami Duro, the single which was jointly produced by Davido and Shizzi was released. This song is said to have been the one which brought Davido to stardom.
The music video of the single was later released on the 8th of January, 2012. On 6th of May, 2012, the fourth single on the album titled Overseas was released by HKN music.
And on the 28th of September 2012, Davido released his fifth song, All of You.
Davido began recording his second album in 2013. On February 25th, 2013, one of the singles in the album he was working on, Gobe was released and got the attention of many.
Gobe, produced by Shizzi, got many positive feedbacks. In June 2014, Davido collaborated with some other top artistes such as Tiwa Savage, Diamond Platnumz and Sarkodie on a song for the Africa rising campaign.
In 2015, he collaborated with the American rapper, Meek Mill on the single, “Fans Mi”. In January 2016.
Davido signed a record deal with Sony Music, and some months after, he established his record label, Davido Music Worldwide (DMW).
On 30th of November, 2017, Davido won the Best African Act at the MOBO Awards. This qualified him as the first African artiste
to perform live at the awards.
