At Lollapalooza Joseph Quinn & Metallica Perform On The Backstage

Eddie Munson, also known as Joseph Quinn, played with Metallica at the Lollapalooza festival on July 28. Backstage at a performance, the two also worked together. In a video that Netflix put online, Joseph Quinn said that he met Metallica at the Chicago music festival.

On the sci-fi/horror show Stranger Things, Joseph Quinn was recently seen singing Master of Puppets by Metallica. The song came out for the first time in 1986.

For those who don’t know, Eddie Munson, played by Joseph Quinn, is a metalhead and the leader of the Hellfire Dungeons & Dragons club in Season 4 of Stranger Things. Munson has an important scene where he plays Master of Puppets on the guitar to try to keep the horrible creatures from the Upside Down away from his friends.

Metallica works with Joseph Quinn

James Hetfield, one of the band’s founders, told Quinn that he looked taller in person than on TV. Hetfield also told the actor that he had loved Stranger Things since the first season. In the video, you can hear the father of three say:

“I like it a lot. Since the first season. It’s been a great way for my kids and I to get to know each other.”

Quinn thanked Hetfield while he was sitting with the group and told him that he had been listening to Metallica for the past two years:

“I didn’t listen to anything else for two years. I feel like I know you all very well.”

Hetfield said this in response:

“By the way, thanks for doing a good job. You definitely did.”

After they talked, the bassist of the band, Robert Trujillo, invited Quinn to a jam session backstage. Quinn has been playing the guitar since he was a child. He joked:

“I’m not as good as I used to be, so I may need a lesson.”

Lars Ulrich, the drummer, looked at the camera after the collaboration and said:

“We’d like to tell you something. Metallica now has five members.

As a farewell gift, the band gave Quinn a signed custom B.C. Rich guitar that looked almost exactly like the one Eddie Munson played on the show.

What happened at Comic Con to Joseph Quinn?

Metallica was the main act on the first day of the Chicago festival. They played hits like “Enter Sandman,” “Nothing Else Matters,” “It’s A Long Way to the Top (If You Want to Rock ‘n’ Roll),” and “Master of Puppets.”

After it was played on Stranger Things, there were a lot more streams of Master of Puppets. Tye Trujillo, who is the son of Robert Trujillo, played more guitar parts on the version that was on the show. The song reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 Chart and the UK Top 100 Singles Chart for the first time, reaching number 35 on the Billboard chart and number 26 on the UK chart.
