Sithembile Xola Pearl Thusi (born May 13, 1988) is a South African actress, model, TV presenter, radio personality, and national broadcaster. Thusi is most recognized for her roles as Patricia Kopong in The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency (BBC/HBO), Dayana Mampasi in the ABC thriller Quantico, and Samkelo in the romantic drama film Catching Feelings. She featured in the highly acclaimed Netflix crime thriller series Queen Sono, which was Netflix’s first African original. She is one of South Africa’s most prominent actors.


Thusi hosts Lip Sync Battle Africa on MTV and, as well as the EbonyLife TV talk show Moments. She played Palesa Motaung in the popular SABC 3 soap opera Isidingo, and co-hosted Live Amp with DJ Warras and Luthando Shosha, as well as the SABC 1 celebrity gossip magazine show Real Goboza.

Thusi appeared as Patricia Kopong in The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency, a BBC/HBO comedy-drama that aired in 2009.

Thusi co-starred in Tremors 5: Bloodlines in 2015 as Dr. Nandi Montabu. She also featured in Emtee’s music video for “Pearl Thusi.”

In 2016, Thusi was cast as Dayana Mampasi in the second season of the ABC thriller Quantico, starring Priyanka Chopra, as a series regular. Thusi was cast as Samkelo in the romantic drama film Catching Feelings the same year. On March 9, 2018, the film was released in cinemas.

Thusi played Brenda Riviera in the drama film Kalushi in 2017.

Thusi took over as the new host of MTV Base’s Behind the Story for the third season in 2018. Thusi was cast in the main role of Queen Sono on the Netflix criminal drama series Queen Sono in the same year. The series debuted on February 28, 2020, to widespread acclaim from reviewers, with Thusi’s acting receiving special attention. Netflix renewed the series for a second season in April 2020. However, Netflix announced on November 26, 2020 that the series has been canceled due to production difficulties caused by the COVID-19 epidemic. She will co-host the 1st KZN Entertainment Awards with Somizi Mhlongo on December 15, 2020.

Thusi was cast as Adaku in the forthcoming Netflix film Wu Assassins: Fistful of Vengeance in February 2021.
